Hey, look who’s back after a whole year without posting on this blog! Haha! We’ve been fully active, but life got busy and other priorities kept me away — a post like this takes a solid chunk of time between selecting images and laying everything out. Anyway, enough of that. Let’s talk about the couple in this post.
Jana and Matt live in England, met in the US, and came all the way to Rio de Janeiro to get married! That’s love for you, a truly global couple! Haha!
How lucky was I to spend 3 days with them, working alongside people I absolutely love. It was Mara, Daniel Mendes, and Igor Mendes (DVM Films) sharing the responsibility for the photography and video of the wedding.
Oh, before you ask: yes, they did receive their photos in color too. I chose to publish in black and white because I loved the aesthetic, and I hope you get to appreciate the moments, contrasts, and textures without the distraction of color. Day 1: Boat Party
Let’s kick things off with the welcome boat party, which was a one-of-a-kind experience for everyone involved, guests and vendors alike. There was no way not to get swept up in the energy and have a great time right alongside them.
We boarded a boat at Marina da Glória and sailed to a calm spot in Guanabara Bay where the guests could enjoy the views and take a dip in the ocean. We headed back at sunset and it was nothing short of epic.

Day 2: The Wedding
The wedding took place at a venue called Meio do Mato Eventos, which is literally in the middle of the woods — and absolutely beautiful for an outdoor ceremony. Mara arrived early to photograph the getting-ready moments while I stayed in the city with Matt and the groomsmen until it was time to head to the venue.
